DSW Degree Programs to Help for Career Progression in Social Work

 

Many social workers who are currently employed as well as students are interested in pursuing their education beyond the master's level. A DSW degree is one of the few options for doctoral education available to those students.

Undoubtedly, the University of Alabama's DSW programs contain a rigorous course of classroom instruction, but they also have curriculum that emphasizes the practical or clinical application of social work practice. The program has a three-year duration and 45 credit hours of curriculum. Coursework in advanced practice theory and procedures, research methodologies, clinical supervision, and clinical practice are all included in the advanced clinical practice program. Your leadership and management abilities for organizational and community settings are honed by the organizational leadership track curriculum.

All students must complete a one-day on-campus orientation before the DSW degree program can begin. Additionally, each summer, students must spend four to five days on the main campus of the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa – in years one and two for residencies, and in year three for the presentation of their capstone project.
